San Antonio and Sea World

On of the weekends we were in Texas we went to San Antonio. We went to Sea World, to see the Alamo, go on a boat ride on the River Walk and vsit the Mexican Market. We had such a fun time at Sea World but we missed Travis so much. When Travis and I went on our honeymoon, we spent a couple of days in San Antonio. We love the city so much that I wanted to show our kids. Besides being so hot and humid, the kids thought it was one of the best parts of our trip to Texas. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for taking us! We will have to do it again next year.

Field Day / End of School

Travis and I went to Baylee's Field Day at her school and had a fun time chasing her and her freinds around. It is interesting to see your child in their own element (like school) and interact with their friends and other peers. Baylee seems so grown up, I do not know what happened to my little Boo Boo.

Happy 4th of July!

My good friend, Erika, had a wonderful tribute to her father and others in her family that has served our country on her blog. It made me think how grateful I am for all the men and women that have served and are serving our country. These men and women have made it possible for us to live in a country with so many freedoms, including my Dad, my grandfather and uncles. I was taught from an early age the importance of freedom and the love of our country. The most patriotic man I know is my father, he was a captain in the Army. He taught us to have respect for our country, leaders, the flag, etc. He used to wake us up on Saturday mornings by blaring patriotic music, such as the "Star Spangled Banner", "America the Beautiful", and "76 Trombones". I always think of my Dad around the 4th of July and whenever I hear a patriotic song. The kids and I just got back from spending 2 weeks with my parents. My Dad is now retired so it was so much fun to spend some quality one on one time with him. Thanks Dad for all you do for us and for teaching our family to appreciate everything we are given. We love and miss you. I hope everyone has a Happy 4th and remember why we celebrate this wonderful holiday.

Potty Training

All I can say is that Sydney is finally potty trained (for the most part). After 3 kids I know that you can not force your children to be potty trained, they have to be ready to do it on their own. We have potty trained our kids three different ways, because they are all three completely different kids. I have encouraged Sydney to go potty since she turned 2 but she was not interested at all. We made a big deal by buying new panties, a new Dora potty seat, potty treats and it did not work. The day before we left for Texas, Baylee said to Sydney "Do you want to wear your new Little Mermaid panties?" which I had bought a couple of months ago. Baylee told her she had to go pee pee on the potty because she did not want to ruin her new panties. She did not have an accident all day and then the next day we were flying all day so she had to wear a pull up. Since we have been here at my parents, all she wants to do is wear panties and go pee pee in the potty. She makes everyone do the potty dance after she is done, especially Grandpa. She has a potty chart and gets a sticker every time she goes. We are so happy that our 2 1/2 year old can now use the potty, what a BIG GIRL!

My little Prom Queen

The kids and I are in Texas at my parents house for a couple of weeks. The kids love looking at all the pictures of me when I was younger and hearing stories from my parents. We were going through things in the guest room closet when I came across my Mom's wedding dress and my prom dress from my Junior Year of high school. Baylee had to try it on and find some of Grandma's high heel shoes. She looked so cute that we had to take pictures. Looking at pictures, being in my parents house, and just being back in Texas brings back a lot of fun memories. (You know what I am talking about Erika.) Sometimes when I am here, it makes me want to act like a teenager again but I have to remember that I am still "Mom" and responsible for 3 demanding children which I adore.

Howdy Y'all!

The kids and I are off to Texas for 2 weeks to visit my Mom and Dad, do a lot of swimming with Grandpa, eat a little BlueBell ice cream and enjoy the Texan hospitality. My Dad's birthday is tomorrow so it will be fun to celebrate with him. Sydney has been saying "I go swimming with Grandpa" ever since I bought the tickets 3 months ago. The kids can hardly believe the day is finally here. My sweet husband encouraged us to go since he is such a busy guy here. He is so thoughtful and we will miss him so much. Jess is coming to Portland on Thursday and will be staying until Sunday. I am sure they will stay busy playing golf, playing Guitar Hero, watching a lot of sports and just hanging out. I hope they have a great Guy's Weekend. The next weekend Travis is going to visit his sweet sister, Angie. He is going to have a lot of fun while we are gone but I am sure he will get lonely for us. We wish Travis could join us, especially on the long plane ride. Thanks Travis for encouraging us to go, we will miss you more than you know! I will post pictures of our Texas trip when we get back.
